We prefer this brand because ...
This is an excellent all-round formula providing the necessary nutrients for building new bone. Our bones are constantly remodeling, like all tissues: osteoclast cells break down old material and osteoblasts lay the foundations for new bone. While many factors including hormones, liver and kidney function, diet, exercise and more than 24 nutrients play into bone health, calcium, magnesium, zinc and boron are essential for the solid mineral architecture. For optimal bone-building, we look for calcium and magnesium in a 2:1 ratio, predominantly in chelate form, with adequate zinc and boron. Over many years, this pure formulahas contributed to improvements in bone density for our patients. It is absorbable and very rarely constipating. The small amount of vitamin C, a gentle natural acid, enhances the availability of calcium.
About calcium, magnesium, zinc and boron
Calcium and magnesium in a 2:1 ratio is needed for bone building and mineralization, and is also a classic bariatric remedy that helps reach and maintain an ideal weight. Because both minerals are calming, it can also help anxiety and insomnia, in addition calcium is necessary for muscle contraction, healthy heartbeat, blood clotting, and for many key enzymes. Magnesium is abundant inside cells, where it is essential for activating enzymes and energy production: about 60% of the body's magnesium is in bones, 25% in muscle, and much of the rest concentrates in the brain, heart, liver and kidneys. Because magnesium relaxes smooth muscle it has a role for asthma, high blood pressure, constipation, migraine and insomnia. Zinc is a trace mineral present in all cells, and especially high in muscle, white and red blood cells, bone, skin and prostate. Zinc is essential for bone modeling by osteoblasts and osteoclasts, for enhancing vitamin D's action, and for making bone structural proteins. Zinc also has important roles in wound healing, skin health, optimal insulin and sex hormone function, and immunity and activating white blood cells. Boron's primary roles include activating vitamin D,reducing calcium loss from bones, and for joint health, relieving inflammatory and degenerative arthritis.
2 capsules provide: Calcium (citrate and carbonate) 500 mg, Magnesium (citrate and aspartate) 250 mg, Zinc (citrate) 12 mg, Boron (citrate and aspartate) 1,000 mcg, Vitamin C (ascorbate) 20 mg.
Always take natural remedies under the supervision of your health care provider. Do not use calcium without the advice of your physician if you have a history of kidney stones or soft tissue calcification. Do not take calcium within three hours of thyroid medicines or tetracycline antibiotics. Calcium can interfere with the action of diltiazem and sotalol, and reduce the efficacy of verapamil. Additional calcium may be needed during pregnancy and during lactation: follow the guidance of your physician. Do not use magnesium during pregnancy without medical guidance. Magnesium occasionally causes looser stools. Zinc should not be taken alone for prolonged periods: if not taken with copper, it may eventually cause anemia.
